Hi Everyone! As we continue to keep our distance from each other and video chats become the norm, here are some tips to make your video look more professional, whether or not they are being recorded.

First pick a neutral background. Aim to have a wall that doesn’t have a lot on it. If you are working in your home’s basement or room with busy walls or clutter, you can always hang up a white sheet about 4 or 5 feet behind you to create a non-distracting look.

Next, pay attention to where your camera is located on your computer, phone or tablet. When you are setting up your device, be sure that the camera is at or just above your eye level. You can prop up your device on a table, some books or even a box to achieve the height. This creates a more flattering angel that makes it appear to be a more engaging conversation.

Make sure that when you are talking you are looking at your camera vs. at a lower spot on the monitor or another monitor so that it appears you are talking directly to the person on the video chat or the audience.
